A chic little riad in the Medina of Marrakech

We came across this chic boutique hotel through our association with its sister hotel Riad Ariha.

Riad Chi-Chi describes itself as ‘offering modern comfort as well as capturing the best of Moorish architecture’.

The various public areas provide a chance to see this; the salon opens onto the courtyard with its fountain, Islamic pool and informal seating around a fireplace, whilst the first floor has another relaxation space of its own, known as a ‘b’hoû’ or ‘loggia’. This is a salon in an alcove setting, and provides an elegant, nicely secluded spot. Up above on the roof terrace, you can settle down on the sun loungers or in the romantic tented pergola, relaxing and enjoying the wonderful views of the distant Atlas mountains, whilst the rest of the medina bustles beneath.

The traditional methods of the local craftsmen who have restored Riad Chi-Chi help ensure coolness in summer and warmth in winter. Meanwhile, besides the aforementioned modern comforts, the appearance is one of gentle tones- white abounds throughout, and room names such as Plum and Turquoise give a clear indication as to other colours. Speaking of the rooms, there are 4 double bedrooms and one suite- light, airy spaces with close attention having been given to providing notably comfortable beds, and crisp linen.

Riad Chi-Chi is ideally situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in the centre of the Medina, close to the Musée de Marrakech and the Medersa Ben Youssef, only minutes from the entrance to the Souks and a short stroll through the Souks to the Square, Place Jemaa el Fna.

As well as the charm of a typical "Little Hotels" riad, there are lots of nice little touches: mint tea and Moroccan pastries on arrival, mineral water in your room, loan of a local mobile phone during your stay, luggage transfer from the taxi stand to the riad.

Prices are per room per night including breakfast (2 people). All prices include all taxes. Extra bed (child): € 15 (not available in Ivory). Moroccan Cookery Classes Riad Chi-Chi is pleased to announce that it is now offering Moroccan cookery classes to its guests. Due to popular demand and lots of compliments on the tasty food offered in the riad they have decided to offer Moroccan cookery classes to clients. Khadija, the cook, will show you how to prepare typical Moroccan dishes, such as Aubergine Salad (a hot favourite!), Moroccan Salad, Tagine – lemon chicken with olives, beef or lamb with prunes and almonds and a Moroccan dessert. After the class you can then enjoy your freshly-prepared Moroccan meal in the peaceful courtyard or on the roof terrace. Price including all ingredients: Dh 500 for 1 person, Dh 400 per Person for a group of 2+

Deposit:

A credit card number and a 15% non-refundable deposit are required to confirm a reservation. The balance is payable two weeks prior to arrival for long-range bookings, i.e. more than a month away. For short-term bookings, the balance is payable in the riad on departure. Different terms apply for Christmas & New Year.

Cancellations:

Cancellation must be received in writing (e-mail or fax) at least 30 days before scheduled arrival. Later cancellations are charged: 21-30 days before arrival: 25% of total amount ; 15-20 days before arrival: 50%; 7-14 days before arrival: 75%; 3-6 days before arrival: 90% Less than 3 days before arrival: 100%
