Incredibly, there is no vehicle access to the Kasbah, so there is a remote reception in the village leaving a 15 minute walk or mule ride to the hotel. Luggage is brought up by mule. Having reached the hotel, accommodation choices range from the spectacular Garden Suite (125 sq m) with its 12 m of glass wall looking up to Jbel Toubkal, the Deluxe and Standard rooms, or Berber Salons with gallery sleeping areas for families and groups.
It is quite possible to pass a few days at Kasbah du Toubkal just enjoying the solitude and the surrounding mountain scenery, relaxing on one of the roof-top terraces or taking a steam bath in the hammam. Most people come to get closer to the mountains though. Regardless of levels of fitness, this area is accessible to all. There is a wide range of trekking possibilities, from a short ramble through the villages that surround the Kasbah, to more demanding multi-day treks. Mule support can be arranged for bags and people, which opens up more opportunities. The mule trails around the valleys are well contoured and kept in excellent condition.
Kasbah du Toubkal can arrange a full range of treks in the surrounding area, all personally guided by qualified Berber mountain guides, from strolls and day treks right up to ascents of the 4185m Jbel Toubkal. Where necessary food and tents are taken up separately so visitors won't miss out on too many of the luxuries of the Kasbah. There is even the Toubkal Trekking Lodge for the ultimate in comfort in the distant mountains.
The team at Kasbah du Toubkal are strong believers in the "take only photographs, leave only footprints" ideal. They employ local people and buy local supplies and services to support the local economy. They are highly respectful of the culture and traditions of their neighbours and they seek to do everything in the most sustainable and eco-friendly way possible.

What We Say:
Kasbah du Toubkal is a remarkable enterprise which enables visitors to appreciate and enjoy the true culture and beauty of the area in a clean, comfortable and luxurious environment. With rooms ranging from luxury suites to the Berber Salons, everyone has the opportunity to stay in this amazing place, regardless of the depth of their pockets.Customer Feedback:
"We have lived in five or six star hotels before and have also stayed in half-star budget accommodation. But none of those is akin to this Kasbah, for everything here (including the decoration and setting, the services and the atmosphere) are just right to put you at ease."
"What a beautiful place. We feel well exercised, well relaxed and very well fed! A real Oasis during our time in Morocco. Thank you so much."
"Jamie and I had the most wonderful holiday in Morocco but undoubtedly the highlight was our stay at the Kasbah. It is the most beautiful building in the most fabulous position. Our room in the tower was amazing – definite ‘wow’ value! So much effort has been made to furnish the rooms so that you really feel as if you are staying somewhere with lots of history (and the shower is great too). But above all the welcome we received and the hospitality of the staff was wonderful. The atmostphere is so relaxed, you never feel you are being hassled and can do exactly what you please but someone is always at hand to help."

Berber Salons are not traditional hotel rooms but rooms based on local custom. The downstairs area is set out like a traditional room and would serve as a seating area during the day and couches would be slept on at night. There is a sleeping gallery as well to add flexibility. In the galleries there are mattresses where beds will be made up and a towel provided. If the group number exceeds the places on the sleeping galleries, sleeping sheets and bags will be provided to use on the couches. An area of the roof terrace has been reserved for each room where carpets will be set out so you can sleep under the stars. Sleeping sheet, sleeping bag and mat provided. Shared bathroom. (Photo) |
